May is designated as International Internal Audit Awareness Month!

The most recently added presentation is on Fraud Awareness. It’s no secret that the current economic times are placing enormous amounts of stress across the entire workforce, providing increased incentive to consider actions unthinkable years or even months ago. According to the Institute of Internal Auditors’ Research Foundation report on Hot Topics for internal auditors for 2009, the #1 key recommendation is to increase fraud awareness, detection and prevention efforts due to “an increase in the propensity to commit fraud.” The presentation defines fraud and the types of fraud, how fraud is detected and describes the “fraud triangle” – the three key elements of any fraud event. The presentation also provides avenues to communicate suspected fraud to appropriate authorities.
